Nutrition: Generous, Healthy and Nutritious Meals
The kitchen at Clever Kids is positioned centrally and provides convenient access for rooms and for parents to liaise with the cook. With all meals cooked fresh daily, the centre is often filled with the delicious smells of home cooked meals including chicken pasta bake, tuna mornay, banana muffins, and white bean and cocoa slice.
Meals are prepared and delivered daily by our catering company 'Kids Gourmet Foods' with lots of fresh fruit. Modified meals are available for infants, based on their current needs (pureed, textured, etc.) and allergies, intolerances, cultural requirements or dietary restrictions are easily catered for.
Meals are based on a six week rotating menu to ensure maximum variety and choice. All menu items are healthy in nature and are designed to tempt and encourage the fussiest of eaters. Water is provided with all meals and encouraged throughout the day to ensure children are kept hydrated.
As a registered (Class 1) childcare service with local council, we are required to adhere to strict policies and procedures including the requirement to conduct annual audits and participate in routine inspections and food testing. Our cook is qualified as a food safety supervisor to ensure best-practice standards are met and maintained.
The Clever Kids Resilience Program assists children to extend on their current resilience by creating and forming trusting relationships, within a supportive environment, that provides diverse learning opportunities. As educators, we can help them to develop a positive sense of self and to learn key social and emotional skills which can be built on in the future
Our philosophy recognises that promoting resilience in children is not a single event, but a continuous process that requires adults to be supportive and empathetic to support the child’s growing ability to cope.
Yoga is the practice of accessing and integrating all aspects of our true nature -- body, mind, and spirit -- in the pursuit of inner harmony. It enhances physical flexibility, refines balance and coordination, develops focus and concentration and boosts self-esteem and confidence.
Clever Kids believes yoga is beneficial to children in many ways. As children encounter emotional, social, and physical challenges and conflicts, a dedicated and intentional yoga practice, that includes breathing techniques, behavioural guidelines, and physical postures, can be incredibly valuable for them. Yoga is something children can practice anywhere and at any time, and that the breathing, the concentration, the poses, and the way kids learn to act or react to situations, will lead to constant self-discovery and inquisitiveness.
Clever Kids acknowledge that children who are regularly active have stronger muscles and bones, a healthy outlook on life and learn how to have fun while being active. Kids who are physically active tend to sleep well and are better able to handle physical and emotional challenges. At Clever Kids, the children learn some basic aerobics moves on a daily basis, all in tune to their favourite "Aerobics for Kids" soundtrack as a part of their ongoing curriculum.
Music and Movement:
Through music, children take an inner experience and move it into a shared creative experience. Group music-making releases energy which can be channeled in creative, productive directions. Children learn about themselves and others by playing music together and by listening to each other — tapping into hidden courage that can be played out by singing together or discovering the inner resources to listen quietly to another child's playing.
At Clever Kids, the Movement and Music program stimulates pitch, rhythm and musicality with musical concepts and dynamics which explores spatial awareness as we explore the abstract concepts of behind, in front under over around between etc, including perpetual motor skills.
Educational props and instruments are employed to stimulate sight touch hearing memory and imagination in all of our little learners which make the experience interesting challenging and enjoyable.
For babies it enhances the hand - eye coordination and body and sensory awareness. The toddlers learn basic music and movement concepts by taking part in tasks set to improve listening skills. The tasks are mobile and include dancing.
The Kinders' learn comparative music concepts and role play with more challenging dance routines and activities. There is a greater emphasis on role play, action, and dances which are used to extend cognitive knowledge.
Clever Kids acknowledges the benefits of baby massage which aid in improved sleep patterns, reduction of stress and enhanced motor development. The massage stimulates the nervous, circulatory, respiratory and immune systems and produces more of the feel good chemical, serotonin.
Baby massage helps children relax by relieving tension built up from all the stimulation in their environment. It aids with sensory stimulation and allows infants to respond in a relaxed manner.
The educators use a soft massaging touch combined with soothing vocalisation which helps reduce pain levels. It has been known to alleviate gas and promote elimination as it releases hormones for food absorption and releasing natural endorphins the naturals painkillers to ease emotional stress.
Dedicated Sports Program:
We have a firm belief that exercise is extremely important in the development of all children, with proven benefits across the board. The most obvious benefits being fitness, strength and flexibility, as well as improving children's ability to focus in class and deal with emotional challenges.
The Clever Kids sports program operates under the specialised guidance of Little Big Sport which is a play and game based sports coaching program for our Kindergarten children, where the emphasis is on having fun. The passionate, experienced and qualified coaches provide the perfect pressure-free environment for your child to learn fundamental sport skills, techniques, team work, following direction and fair play. This is definitely a favourite among the children!
